Sure, I can return to HP support with the ticket number that they gave me, and they will probably tell me "We'll send you a new battery, because according to the messages that you receive the batter is bad". I let it run in High Performance mode, assuming that the "faulty batter" will probably die in a matter of minutes.
I then took the "faulty" battery and put it in my 2165, the charge level showed 99%. So of course I thought the problem is indeed the battery from the 2145DX, that it cannot be charged. I put my battery in the 2145DX and it immediately started charging. I have another HP laptop (2165DX) which uses the same battery model. Later, a red X appeared on the battery icon and when hovering the cursor over this icon the message that popped up said "fully charged, battery needs to be replaced" (don't hold me accountable for the exact language). I contacted HP, they sent me some instructions to do a Hard Reset, restore Default settings in the BIOS, uninstall and re-install after boot of ACPI Fixed Feature Button, and updating BIOS (which I didn't need to do because I was already running the latest version for this laptop, which is F18).Īfter doing all of the above short of the BIOS update, while re-booting a message (looks like a BIOS/DOS style message) informed that the battery level is too low and I need a new battery (and advised me to contact HP).Īfter windows came up, plugging the power did not start a charge (the led on the front panel did not lit).
Re-booting showed empty battery.Īnother weird behavior was that when plugging the power (because the batter is supposedly empty), few minutes after starting charging, the battery was all of a sudden fully charged. It used to show a fully charged battery and then all of a sudden, 20 minutes later while working on it, it shuts itself down.
